A prototype for nondestructive inspection, sorting and grading potato using LASER technique and automatic control was designed and developed specifically for the present work. The developed prototype was experimentally investigated as a function of change in motor rotational speed, inspection time period and number ofLASER diodes. The performance of the developed prototype was evaluated in terms of productivity, inspection efficiency, prototype accuracy, grading efficiency, energy requirements and operational cost.
