Transgenic tobacoo cali nicotiana tabaum expressing the Arabidopsis thaliana MT1a and MT2a genes under the transcriptional contol of 35S cauliflower mosaic virus promoter were compared with non-transgenic tobacco calli in their ability to grow in the presence of Cd, DCu or Zn and their ability to accumulate these metals.
