520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Two hundred putative streptomycete isolates were recovered from agricultural soil samples collected from Assiut (Kossia), Dakahlia (Belqas), and Giza Governorates of Egypt. Only 25 of these isolates showed incongruous antimicrobial activities against reference Gram-positive, Gram-negative species of bactaria, yeast and filamentous fungi. These active isolates were characterized morphologically, culturally, physiologically, biochemically and chemotaxonomically to species level. The comparative analysis of the different characteristics using SPSS statistical soitware divided the 25 bioactive streptomycetes into 6 clusters. The dominant clusters were Streptomyces lydints followed by S. atroolivaceus.
