Texture affects pore space, bacteria and ·protozoan populations and their activity i n soil. The objective of this study was to test the hypothesis that protozoa grazing on bacteria increase the mineralization of bacterial C and N more in coarsetextured soils than in fine-texture soils. The microcosm experiment consisted of samples from three sterilized Silty clay (SIC); clay loam (Cl) and silty (SL) soils inoculated with pseudomonas bacteria, two treatments (with and without protozoa), and five sampling dates. The Pseudomonas population was labelled in situ by adding glucose-14C a nd K NDJ-15N (day 0 ). A species of A canthamoeba was added to the microcosms on 3rd day .
