The present study lasted 5 months and was carried out on 32 sexual mature rabbit bucks (16 aged 8 months and 16 aged 16 months) and 160 doe rabbits (80 monoparous aged 7 months and 80 multiparous aged 15 months). All animals were divided into two comparable experimental groups (8 young and 8 old bucks; and 40 monoparous and 40 multiparous does in two sequence parities in each group). The first group was kept untreated as a control, while the external sexual organs (special sexual grooves) of both sexes (bucks and does) of the second group were washed with diluted iodine once a week, during the experimental period . The results obtained showed that, libido and physical semen characteristics represented by semen ejaculate volume; sperm cell concentration per ml and per ejaculate; advanced sperm motility; dead and abnormal spermatozoa and acrosomal damages, as well as, spermatozoa storage ability and physical diluted semen quality represented by percentages of each of advanced sperm-motility, dead and abnormal spermatozoa; acrosomal damages and total bacterial count in addition to sperm penetration into estrus cow cervical mucus values, during chilled storage at (4-6 0C) for up to three days or incubated at 37 0C for up to four hours were significantly (P ≤ 0.05) better as ejaculated by washed sexual organs young and old bucks compared with unwashed sexual organs young and old ones, respectively. Some morphological and behavioral aspects indicated reproductive capabilities of rabbit bucks such scrotal circumference; testicular index and mating activity were significantly (P ≤ 0.05) superior and in descending order as recorded by washed sexual organs young and old bucks then unwashed sexual organs young and old ones, respectively. Rates of each of ovulation, fetus abortion, abortion, kindling and pre weaning mortality and values of litter size and weight at birth of rabbit does inseminated artificially were significantly (P ≤ 0.05) better as recorded by washed sexual organs monoparous and multiparous does compared with unwashed sexual organs monoparous and multiparous ones, respectively. Generally, fertilizing ability and fertility traits of rabbit bucks and does were significantly (P ≤ 0.05) arranged in descending order as recorded by washed young, washed old, unwashed young then unwashed old rabbits, respectively. It can be concluded that; our study advice the rabbit breeders by cleaning and sterilizing the external sexual organs (special sexual grooves) of both bucks and does periodically. The study showed clearly the bad accumulative effect of fungi and pollutants which adverse fertilizing ability and fertility traits of buck and doe rabbits UR - http://nile.enal.sci.eg/EALE/2010/EJRS/conf/10/feb/305.pdf ER -
