Annual Conference of the Misr Society of Agricultural Engineering "Agricultural Engineering and Country Challenges"; Includes references N2 - A sOlar-powered water desalination system was developed specifically for the present work. The performance of the developed water desalination system was evaluated in terms of productivity, energy and cost requirements (during August to December 20/4). The developed water desalination system was experimentally investigated with and without using vacuum pressure pump, with washing and without washing concentrated salts and also investigated using solar panel comparing with using electronic generator as a power source. The experimental results revealed the following indications: I. The addition of the vacuum pump increased the system productivity and decreased the cost of productivity unit. 2. Washing concentrated salts after every cycle is recommended for operating system with using seawater to increase system productivity. 3. The use of solar panels decreased the cost of the produced water unit. UR - http://nile.enal.sci.eg/EALE/2012/MJAE//012/20/513.pdf ER -
