520 _aA necrotic bacterial disease of mango trees (Mangifera indica) affecting buds, leaves, and stems were observed on commercial mango trees in Egypt since 2004 - 2005. Twenty bacterial strains representing 20 different localities isolated from symptomatic tissues were identified as P. syringae pv. syringae on the basis of its physiological and biochemical characteristics, ice nucleation activity and host range. Pathogenicity tests on mango plants showed that the all bacterial strains incited the typical symptoms of apical necrosis.
