520 _aThis experiment was carried out during two winter seasons of 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 at EL-Khattara Experimental Farm, Fac. Agric., Zagazig Univ., to study the effect of water quantity, farmyard manure (FYM) and their interactions on storability of garlic bulbs during storage period. Water quantity at 2600 m3/fed, followed by 2100 m3/fed recorded maximum values of the emaciation and sprouting percentage in bulbs during storage period, while application of 600 m /fed followed by 1100 m /fed recorded minimum values of the emaciation and sprouting percentage. Weight loss (%) of garlic bulbs increased with increasing water quantity up to 2600 m3/fed and decreased with decreasing water quantity up to 600 m3/feddan. FYM at 30 m3/fed recorded maximum values of the emaciation and sprouting percentage in bulbs during storage period. Weight loss (%) of garlic bulbs increased with increasing FYM up to 45 m3/fed and decreased with decreasing FYM up to 15 m3/fed or without FYM. The interaction between 2600 m3 water/fed and 30 or 45 m3 FYM/fed gave the highest values of weight loss (%), while 600 m3 water and 15 m3 FYM /fed or without FYM gave the lowest values of weight loss (%) in bulbs during storage period. The interaction between water quantity and FYM had no significant effect on emaciation and sprouting percentages in bulbs during storage.
