In: Minufiya Journal of Agricultural Research 2010.v.35(5)Summary: The aim of this study was to improve weaning weight of Friesian heifer calves (records of 1024 progeny of 52 sires and 810 dams) via selection index method which included general, reduced, sub and restricted indices at different levels of restrictions on increase in birth weight. Estimates of genetic and phenotypic parameters for body weight at birth, 30, 60 and 90 days of age were computed and used to construct nineteen selection indexes to improve the weaning weight in Friesian heifer calves.
