Genetic control of seed yield, protein content and resistance to Callosobruchus maculates F in cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp) [electronic resource]. التحكم الوراثى فى محصول البذور ونسبة البروتين فى اللوبيا والمقاومة لخنفساء اللوبيا. - p.57-71.

Includes reference.

A full-diallel cross was established between six morphologically divergent cultivars of cowpea in order to estimate the genetic parameters of seed yield/plant and percentage of protein content. Moreover, laboratory experiments were also established to determine the types of gene action controlling the inheritance of resistance to C. maculatus, percentage of seeds weight loss and total number of the emerged adult insects. The results reveled that both additive and non-additive gene effects were involved in the control of the studied traits except total number of the emerged adult insects where additive gene effect was nonsignificant.
