This invistigation has been conducted through successive period from 2000 to 2004 at the Tissue Culture Laboratory, Central Laboratory for Date palm Research and Development, Agricultural Research Center, Ministry of Agriculture. Female inflorescence was lIsed as an explant material via tissue culture technique to propagate the elite Upper Egyptian seedling date palm that did not produce new offshoots. It was recommended that, spikes of 2 - 4 em in length gave the best results for browning % , swelling % and embryogenic callus formation %.
