Summary, etc. The effect of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer on leek was evaluated through two field experiments during the two the successive growing seasons of 200312004 and 2004/2005 at a private fann, Tamiya, Faypum Governorate, Egypt. To verify this objective, leek" cv. Cleopatra" was grown and treated with nitrogen fertilizer at rates of 100, 150,200 and 250 Kg N fed⁻¹ as soil application of ammonium nitrate (33.5%N) or urea (46%N). Potassium sulphate (48% K20) was used as the respective K source. Nitrogen treatments were applied in 4 equal applications; 25% of the quantity was spread on the rows before transplanting and the rest amount was added at 30, 50 and 70 days from transplanting. Treatments comprised 2 levels of K; 48 and 96 Kg K20 fed:1 at two equal doses; 50 and 70 days from transplanting. Data of growth characters; plant height, No. of leaves plant⁻¹ , fresh and dry weight of leaves planrl fresh and dry weight ofbulb plant⁻¹ and total fresh and dry weight planr⁻¹ were estimated. Also, total yield (ton fed⁻¹), and some chemical constituents;leaf pigments; total chlorophyll and carotenoids, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, nitrite and nitrate concentration of leek were estimated.
