Summary, etc. A total of 197 E. coli strains were isolated from diseased chickens from different farms in Ismailia Governorate. The serotyped strains (n=40) were belonged to 10 serovars, O78(13), O153(6), O168(5), O26(4), O157 and O146(3/each), O20 and O114(2/each), O125 and O126(l/each). The antimicrobial susceptibility of isolated E.coli were examined by Agar Disc Diffusion Technique against II types of the most used antimicrobial agents in the field. Higher resisance was detected against oxytetracycline, ampicillin and amoxicillin. MIC of gentamicin. ciprofloxacin and chloramphenicol were tested, the resistance percentages of examined serovars were (60%), (30%) and (70%) respectively. Inspite of serovar resistance to f3-lactams group, PCR couldn't detect blaZ- β-lactamase gene. The transformation of resistance was examined by conjugation. The results supported the transmission of the resistance from 078:H4 to sensitive O26:H19 and O157:H7 but not for O168.
