Summary, etc. The experiments were carried to study the effect of two mechanical drilling . methods. (in a single and two directions) comparing with manual broadcasting at three seedbed preparation system {(chisel plow one pass + rotary tiller + leveling scraper). (Chisel plow two passes +Leveling scraper) and (chisel plow two passes + rotary tiller +Leveling scraper)} and three seeding rates-at 7.5, 10.0 and 12.5 kg/fed in salt affected soil. Sesbania was planted in 10 April 2001 and three cuts were taken. The best yield was 25.71 ton! fed by using drilling in two direction, seeding rate of 10.0 kg! fed and planting speed of 3.1 km/h under seedbed preparation system at (chisel plow two passes +rotary tiller +Leveling scraper) The yields were 22.51 and 19.56 ton! fed by using drilling in one direction operational at same conditional, while manual broadcasting at 12.5 kg/ fed seeding rates. Energy requirement (kW.h/ ton) in cross drilling was lower than that in manual broadcasting and drilling in one direction under different seedbed preparation. seeding rates at 3.1 km/ h planting speed. Mechanical drilling in two directions gave the highest profit (1045 L.E/ fed) comparing with 865 and 712 L.E/ fed. by using drilling in one direction and manual broadcasting. respectively.
