Summary, etc. Leek (Allium ampelerasum, L) is an important filed vegetable in most of Western and Central Europe. It is widely produced by thel2 countries of the European cooununity {EC), but it is still not possible over a full 12· month period. (Brewster, 1994). Leek is grown for both fresh and processed markets, mainly produced, ftozen or ready cooked (sliced). It is also one of the perishable vegetables, it has a high respiration rate thus low temperatures and high relative humidity is essential out to cause wilting, and minimize quality loss (Kurlci, 1979) The differences among transplanting dates may be related from the diflereoces in· on morphological characters (plant weight, pseucb«em diameter .. ." .. etc). Emam (1999) and El-Sayed et al. (2005). Transplanting dates affects on some physical and chemical characters of ledc plants stored may be related to the effect of enviromnental fiK:tors during plaut rising period (weather conditioos). Kraker (1996) reported that there is a noticeable effect fur weather c:onditions during harvesting and handling on keeping quality of leafy vegetables. Swee-Suak-ko et al · (2002) proved similar data on onions.
