Pecan seeds cv. "Curtis" were failed to germinate without period of cold stratification. Low germination values were obtained after one month of stratification at 5oC. Three months of cold stratification were sufficient for better germination rates. Gennmation and subsequent seedling growth were affected by soaking of seeds stratified for short period (J month) in sodium azide, thiourea, GA3, NaHCO3, HCI or water in combination with or without Infested planting soil with two fungal isolates of Fusarium solani, the causal agent of necrosis of pecan, Both fungal isolates of F. solani (Fpl and Fp2) of sharply decreased gennination rates and negatively affected seedling growth of pecan.
