Subject(s): Online resources: In: Annals of Agricultural Science 2007.v.52(1)Summary: Response of lettuce plants (Lactuca sativa L., ice-berg Var.) to the fertigation with some combination ratios of three potassium fertilizers, i.e. KN03, K2SO4 and KC1 has been studied. A field experiment was carried out in El-Tahrir sandy soil (PICO-Om-Saber farm) during the production season of 28th Oct - 8th Dec 2004. This experiment included 12 combinations treatments of K-KCI/K-KNO3/K-K2S04 as following: 0/100/0, 25/75/0, 50/50/0, 75/25/0 100/0/0, 0/0/100, 25/0/75, 50/0/50 and 75/0/25, 0/25/75, 0/50/50 and 0/75/25 relative to 100 that equals the total K requirements during the growth season. Some contents of nutrients in the soil and in the lettuce plant tissues as affected by the tested combinations treatments were investigated. Moreover, no significant differences were observed between all the tested K-fertilizers combination treatments on the total or .the exportable fresh yields of lettuce plants. From .both of the biological and the economical points of view, it could be concluded that fertigation with a low price and a high water soluble KC1 content as a source of the potassium requirements in the combination of 50/50/0 is recommended for lettuce plants in the well drained sandy soil.
