Four Egyptian wheat cvs viz. Giza-168, Sakha-93, Sids-l and Giza-139 in comparison with a fast ruster i.e. Morocco gave evidence to their inclusion of slow rusting trait against leaf rust disease. Testing them for 2 seasons under greenhouse conditions and two other seasons under field conditions supported such finding. The tested cvs Revealed their ability to exhibit low pustules number. longer incubation period and latent period as compared with the local Giza-139 under field conditions. Relatively lower AUDPC, r-value and the higher weight of 1000 kw confirmed the presence of long lasting resistance in these cvs through out the two growing seasons 2003/04 and 2004/05.
