For this purpose, four separate field experiments were conducted at the Agricultural Experiment and Research Center, Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University during 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 winter seasons. The experiments were carried out in a split plot design with 4 replications. The main plots were randomly distributed by three seeding methods (broadcasting, drilling in rows 25 cm and 50 cm apart).
