ACOMPLETELY randomIzed field experiment with lrick1c _ irngatcd tomatoes {l_ycopersicall esculentum var, 448j as the indicator plant was conducted at El-kattJ, Giza governorate to study the conditioning effect of hydrogcls when mixed wIth or grafted on organic compost on some hydrophysical properties of a virgin sandy soil planted with tomatoes. Examined treatments were: UJ untreated soil, b) soil treated with 0.5 kg and I kg organic compost (OM) iplan! pit. c) soil treated witp 2g and 4 g polyacrylamide K polyacrylate hydrogel (G)/plant pit, d) soil treated with 12.5 g and 25 g pc!yacrylamide K polyacre1ate grafted on organic compost (grafted G)/plant pit. and e) soil treated with mixtures of 0.5 kg OM -1- Ig G, 0_-" kg OM + 2g G. 1kg OM + I g G and I kg OM + 2 g G Iplant pit. At the end of the groy.,ing season, i.e., after 150 days from plantallOil some hydrophysical properties of the soil were determined.
