Subject(s): Online resources: In: Egyptian Journal of Agricultural Research 2006.v.84 (6)Summary: This research work was carried out in the biogas laboratory of the Agricultural Engineering Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University in order to evaluate the environmental pollution of exhaust gases from a kerosene engine fueled with biogas as an alternative fuel compared with kerosene as main fuel. The engine was used for operating a small electric generator. The evaluation was done under different electric load of generator using different biogas nozzle diameters. The obtained results showed that the nozzle diameter of 5 mm was the best option for operating the engine-generator unit at rated and maximum energy output of generator (1.43 and 1.62 kW). Under these conditions, the CO value in exhaust gasses was 594 and 571 ppm with a value reduction ratio of 70.8 and 71.94% compared with kerosene fuel.
