Subject(s): Online resources: In: Egyptian journal of rabbit science 2010.SISummary: Rabbit bucks and does are faced with some problems related to their reproductive efficiency. Improvement rabbit reproductivity is still the main objective for many investigators to detect the different factors affecting it. Conception rate is the product of proceeding physiological events, mating, fertilization, implantation and gestation development. On the other hand, conception rate is expected to be affected by several factors, notably, genetic, environment and managerial approaches. Several deleteriously factors cause malfunction on testicular and ovarian activity in rabbits. Such factors were found to opposite rabbit production due to its adversely effect on rabbit reproduction. Among these factors, diseases; disorders of spermatogenesis and semen quality; ejaculatory disturbances and reproductive failure; imbalanced nutritional and uncomfortable climatic conditions; improper management and housing; environmental pollution conditions. Failure to ovulate after natural mating or artificial insemination is one of the major factors in the rabbits infertility. There are another importance elements belonging to managerial factors adversely affect reproductive efficiency of rabbits. These elements included remating intervals; hormonal treatments of both buck and doe rabbits; fungi around external sexual organs (vagina and testes); overusing of bucks in natural mating or artificial insemination; handling of rabbit does after mating; embryo absorbtion and inbreeding. Rabbit with reduced fertility posses serious problems and causes economical losses to breeders and rabbit industry. In this review article, simple inexpensive techniques for improving fertilizing ability and fertility traits of rabbit bucks and does respectively are described.
