Maternal toxicity of imidaeloprid (Admire 200 SC) and cyanophos (Cyanox EC 50 %) in pregnant female white albino rats (Rattus norvegicus, Dork.) was studied. The LD50 of the tested insecticides was 484.06 mg I kg body weight with confidence .limit within range from 385.74 to 607.44 for imidacloprid, while, it was 807.60 with interval limit ranged between 671.58 - 971.18 mg cyanophos I kg b. wt. in this study. The pregnant rats were daily orally administered 12~1, 24.2 and 48.4 mg I kg b. wt. of imidacloprid (i.e., 2.5, 5.0 and 10% of LDso respectively) and 4, 6 and 8 mg cyanophos I kg b.wt./day (i.e., 0.56, 0.74 and 0.99% of LD50) during organogenesis period (from the 6 th to 15 th day of gestation).
