Subject(s): Online resources: In: Journal of Biological Chemistry and Environmental Sciences 2010.v.5(4)Part(1)Summary: Copolymerization of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone (NVP) with ethyl acrylate (EA), butyl acrylate (BA), itaconic acid (IA) and dimethyl itaconate (DMI) were carried out in dimethylformamide, using 1% mol azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as an initiator at 65 C. Copolymer composition of each sample was calculated from nitrogen analysis. The monomer reactivity ratios for NVP-EA, NVP-BA, NVP-IA and NVP-DMI systems were calculated by Fineman-Ross and Kelen—Tudos methods. The Q and e values for N-vinyl-2-pyrolidone were calculated from the monomer reactivity ratios determind in the present and previous studies. The monomer distribution of traid fractions for the systems studied were calculated. The structure of the prepared copolymers was investigated by IR spectroscopy.
