In: Egyptian Journal of Agricultural Research 2004.v.82(1)SISummary: The new rice variety Giza 177 is the first deveioped early maturing, high yielding variety in Egypt in 1994 by the Rice Research and Training Center (RRTC), Sakha, Kafr EI-Sheikh, National Rice Research and Development Program. Giza 177 was developed from the iocal top --cross "Giza171/Yomji NO.1 II Pi No.4" effected in 1986. It was selected using pedigree method from the uniformity stabilized F4 generation in 1988 as a breeding line "GZ 4120-205-2".
