Subject(s): Online resources: In: Egyptian Journal of Agricultural Research 2004.v.82(2)Summary: The study examined the effect of dietary fluoride (NaF) and aluminum AL₂(SO₄)₃ on laying hens performance. A total of 108 White Hy-line hens was housed in individually cages (4 hens/cage) and divided into three equal groups. They were fed a diet supplemented with 0 (as control), BOO-ppm F and BOO-ppm F piUS 1040-ppm AI, respectively. The body weight, egg mass, feed consumption, feed conversion, egg quality measurements and blood parameters were taken. It could be noticed that high F intake significantly depressed body weight, egg number, egg weight, egg mass, feed consumption and feed conversiOn ratio. However, these depressions were not as severe when AI was present in the diet. Also, the depression in performance due to F feeding was not simply due to the depressed feed intake but was a result of metabolic function of F. With respect to blood parameters, it could be noticed that the high F intake significantly decreased hematocrit level, plasma calcium and phosphorus. However, dietary AI minimized the effect of high fluoride toxicity
