The new variety Giza 90 is a new long staple variety of Egyptian cotton. It has been introduced by the Cotton Breeding Research Section through artificial hybridization between the two parents Giza 83 and Dendera followed by a pedigree method of selection. The variety Giza 90 is characterized by about 5% higher seed cotton yield and lint yield the commercial variety Giza 83. It slightly surpassed Giza 83 for boll weight and gave the same range of lint percentage of Giza 83 variety.
