Subject(s): Online resources: In: Zagazig Journal of Agricultural Research 2004.v.31(4A)Summary: This work was carried out during winter seasons of 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 at EL-Khattara Experimental Farm, Fac. Agric., Zagazig Univ., to study the effect of organic and mineral nitrogen fertilizers and soil plastic mulch on dry weight, plant chemical composition' and yield of tomato under sandy soil conditions . Fertilization of tomato plants with chicken manure (ChM) at 38.5m3 per fed or with 120kg N per fed gave the highest dry weight of root, stem, leaves and total/plant, N,P, K and total uptake, number of fruits per plant as well as yield/plant and per feddan. Black plastic mulch gave higher dry weight of root, stem, leaves and total per plant, N,P, K and total uptake as well as yield per plant and/feddan compared to bare soil.Under black plastic mulch, fertilization of tomato plants with 38.5m3ChM or with 120 kg mineral –N/fed were the best interaction treatments for increasing root, stem, leaves and total dry weight per plant, N,P, K and total uptake, number of fruits/plant, yield/plant and/feddan compared to the other interaction treatments.
