  • Veterinary medical journal, 2003 v.51 (3) [electronic resource].
Subject(s): Online resources: In: Veterinary Medical Journal 2003.v.51(4)Summary: The identification of the virus strains as ClAV is based on: 1- The lesions recorded in naturally infected chickens were compatible with those reported for CIA (thymus atrophy, yellow bone marrow, anaemia and haemorrhage). 2- These lesions were also reproduced in chickens inoculated with materials treated with chloroform and passed through 50 nm filters. 3- Low haematocrite value of naturally and experimentally infected chickens under investigation (27%). 4- Inoculation of embryonated chicken eggs via yolk sac. 5- Isolated virus strains did not agglutinate chicken and/or sheep erythrocytes (RBCs). 6- The isolates induced histo-pathologieal lesions which were a reflection of macroscopic observations. 7- These findings are the characteristic lesions of the virus and demonstrate that ClAV is present in some flocks in Sharkia.
