Subject(s): Online resources: In: Assiut Journal of Agricultural Sciences 2012.v.43(2)Summary: The effect of pollen grain suspensions spray or pollen grains dust as a pollination method of Sewy date palm which combines with both mechanical pollination and fruit thinning was studied during- 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons. Spraying method of pollination was conducted by using pollen grains at 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.Og/L mixed with O.2g boric acid and 10% sucrose as activating media. Pollen dust at 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0g mixed with talc powder in ratio of 1:24 ,16,12,and 9 was also examined. The obtained results indi- cated that there were a reduction on the percentage of fruit reten- tion and bunch weight as the pol- len grains concentration was lower. There were no significant differences in bunch weight due to pollination with 1.0g pollen grains compared to control.
