The aggregation pheromone traps of the red palm weevil, Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Olivier) was considered as the essential method for integrated pest management of field trials. Experintents were carried out on date palm plantations at El-Kassasein district (Abo-Nagi), Egypt during two successive years (2010 and 2011). Three trap shapes and hanging heights were tested. The obtained results obviously indicated that the pheromone trap shapes affected significantly the number of captured weevils, where they were 1103, 872 and 671 weevils/3traps with the three tested shapes of bucket trap; trap1 (holes and funnel without cover), trap 2 (without holes and funnel without cover) and recommend trap 3 (holes with cover), respectively. Three different hanging heights of the trap 1 on date palm tree trunks; directly on the ground surface, 1.5 m, and 3 m were tested. Also, the results indicated that there were significant differences between the captured numbers of weevils showing 1049, 844 and 643 weevils /3traps on the three levels, successively. The ground trap level was highly attractive for adult weevils. Generally, to achieve more capturing effectiveness of aggregation pheromone traps in controlling red palm weevil, necessary using trap shape (holes and funnel without cover) and ground height.
