Subject(s): Online resources: In: Minufiya Journal of Agricultural Research 2002. v.27(6)Summary: Two field experiments were carried out at Gemmeiza Agricultural Research Station, Gharbia Governorate during two seasons (2000 and 2001) to study the effect of eight N fertilizer treatments, which were three forms of organic manures (pigeon refuse, sheep and rabbit manures) at twa rates (a-60 kg N/fed. as organic manure and b-30 kg'N/fed. as organic manure combined with 30 kg N/fed. as mineral N fertilizer), as well as two rates of mineral N fertilizer (30 and 60 kg N/fed.), on leaf chemical composition, growth, earliness, yield and yield components of the Egyptian cotton cultivar, Giza 89. The results of the combined analysis showed that the combined application of 30 kg N/fed. as pigeon refuse along with 30 kg mineral N/ fed. as ammonium nitrate significantly increased leaf contents of N, Fe, Zn and Mn at 75 days after sowing as compared with other treatments. This treatment produced, also, the highest total dry weight/ plant. A significant effect was found on plant height in favour of applying the high rate of mineral N fertilizer alone (60 kg N/fed.) followed by applying pigeon refuse either alone or in combination with 30 kg mineral N/fed.
