Forty-five, three-week old male rats were randomly assigned to three dietary groups 15 rats each. The control diet (fed to group I), contained dried whole egg as the main source of protein, diet 2 (fed to group II) contained seal meal supplemented- with amino acids supplemented to meet the rats' requirements, while diet 3 (fed to group III) had seal meal plus the deficient amino acids 20 % above the requirements. The three diets did not affect the body weight development of the rats throughout the experiment. Rats fed seal meal (group II and III) consumed significantly (P<.01) more feed than the rats fed diet I. The overall feed/gain ratio was significantly better for the rats in group I (whole egg diet) than the selll meal diets. Key words: rats, seal meal, protein, evaluation.
