Diallel analysis for yield and its components of maize under two different locations [electronic resource].

Six inbred lines of maize were crossed in a diallel cross system in 2001 growing season and evaluated for combining ability and nature of inheritance of silking date,plant and ear heights, grain yield, ear length, ear diameter, number of rows/ear and number of kernels/row at Sakha and Sids locations in 2002 growing season. The GCA and SCA mean squares were highly significant for each location and combined in all studied traits. However the non-additive gene action was more pronounced in the genetic system controlling plant and ear heights,grain yield,ear length,ear diameter and number of kernels/row,while the additive gene action was more important in the inheritance of silking date and numberof rows/ear.
