Salmonella spp. was detected in 14 (11.7 %) of the samples analyzed. Among the chicken samples examined giblets had higher contamination level of Salmonella 7 (5.8 %) while the meat samples had lower percent of contamination 3(2.5%). Out of 14 Salmonella isolates,S different serolypes were identified S. typhimurium (42.9) was the most frequent followed by S. enlerilidis 21.4%, S. virchow 21.40/.. S.anatum 7.1% and Salmonella type n 7.1%. The results of the present study indicated that there was a high level of Salmonella contamination of chicken meat and giblets in retail markets, which could be considered as one of the major potential source of human salmonellosis in PortSaid, city.
