Electrophoretic analyses of storage proteins and isozymes were used to identify and differentiate between six inbred lines of maize and their F1 hybrids. Twenty two alcohol - soluble protein bands were detected in all genotypes. The bands were different in their intensities. Eight bands were common in all inbred lines and hybrids. The F1 hybrids showed more bands than their respective parents. In additon, the esterase and peroxidase isozyme systems studied, manifested ten bands that were common in all inbred lines and hybrids. Isozyme pattern were satisfactory in identifying the 21 maize genotypes. The cluster analysis describing the relationships among the 21 maize genotypes exhibited only two clusters based on the results of protein and isozymes pattern. The data are useful for varietal identification. Key words: Maize, storage proteins, isozymes, esterase, peroxides, cluster analysis.
