The experiment was conducted at Giza Agricultural Research station, A.R. C. Egypt, during 20 11 and 20 12 growing seasons to study heterosis and combining ability effects for in half diallel crosses of sunflower, for days to maturity, head diameter, number of seeds per plant, seed yield per plant, 1 00-seed weight, and oil content. The six inbred lines and 15 crosses were evaluated in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The parents Sakha-53 and L-39 were found to be good combiners for head diameter, number of seeds per plant, seed yield per plant, and 100-seed · weight, while L-880 and L-245 were good combiners for days to maturity and oil content. Sakha-53 and L-39 exhibited high GCA for head diameter, number of seeds per plant, seed yield per plant, and 100-seed weight. The crosses (Sakha-53 x L-245), (L-880 x L-770) had significant SCA effects for seed yield /plant, head diameter, number of seeds/plant and 100-seed weight. A significant heterotic effect was found for all traits except number of seeds per plant in to the mid-parent so as in over the better parent.
