Subject(s): Online resources: In: Arab Universities Journal of Agricultural Science 2003.v.11(2)Summary: Among 83 bacterial isolates collected from soil samples of three Egyptian governorates, 8 isolates were found to belong to Bacil/us Ihuringiensis (B.I.). These isolates were characterized according to their morpholo.§ical characters, biochemical properties and to their effectiveness against the 2 instar larvae of Spodoplera littoralis. The crystal toxins of the two strains B.tK-I andB.I.K-3, which showed the highest cumulative corrected mortalities, were found to be bipyramidal and cubical-shaped. Elisa teclmique proved the absence of p- exotoxin. Using PCR method, the CryI gene has been recognized in the tested strains B.t.K-I & B.t.K-3 by residues 217 pb. Among three different fonnulations of B.t. Le., suspension, wettable powder and granules fonnulation, the latter one approved to be the best of these fonnulations in activity and in keeping viability of the B. I. spores till 12 months post -preparation.
