Eight Egyptian cotton varieties with six lint grades of each were used in the present investigation. Each cotton fiber sample was thoroughly mixed then classified by a committee of three expert classers of the "International Grading Center" of the "Cotton Arbitration and Testing General Organization" (C.A T.G.O.), at Smoha, Alexandria The High Volume Instrument (H.V.I.-), Spinlab 900 system was used to determine the fiber properties besides the colour and trash grades and their attributes for all studied samples. The obtained results revealed that the mean values of the cotton fiber reflectance percentage (Rd%) ranged from 58.76% to 71.99% and the yellowness degree (+b) ranged from 9.76 to 13.72 for all studied Egyptian cotton varieties in the two seasons. According to the categories of the colour reflectance (Rd%) and yellowness degree (+b) an intrinsic colour code (I. C. C.) for each cotton variety was proposed. The studied Egyptian cotton varieties could undergo four colour classes: white, light creamy, creamy and dark creamy due to the yellowness degree (+b) in accordance with the intrinsic colour code(I.C.C.).Itwas fOUnd that the classer grade was highly and positively correlated with the colour reflectance percentage (Rd%) and highly and negatively correlated with the trash code which is calculated by a suggested equation.
