The aim of this work was to study the effect of ballasting and inflation pressure on tractive performance of a tractor in plowed and unplowed soil. To achieve this goal the following treatments were tested: three levels of inflation pressure viz., 75, 100 and 125 kPa, three levels of ballasting conditions viz., zero, 60 and 90 kg and two types of soil conditions viz., plowed and unplowed. This work was carried out at the Research Farm of Faculty of Agr. Alex. Univ. The performance parameters taken into consideration were drawbar load, tyre slip, speed, and torque on rear tyre and dynamic load. The results reveal that as the drawbar load is increased the value of wheel slip increases at all inflation pressures and ballasting conditions both in plowed and unplowed soil. The result show that in plowed and unplowed soils the tractive efficiency decreased as the inflation pressure is increased.
