An experiment of completely randomized design was carried out along two seasons 1999 and 2000 to in comparison with vertemic pestered clarify the effect of the mineral oil, CAPEL 1 on the population density of some soil fauna including important natural enemies e.g. the true spiders. Result showed that 6 families of spiders were occurred in the tomatoe plantation in Berma village, Gharbia Governorate, the site of experimentation. The dominant family of spiders was Lycosidae with 74% of the total spider populations, while the rarest families was Salticidae. Population density of the spiders increased in the mineral oil plots with 25% and 40% during 1999 and 2000, respectively. A preliminary test in the laboratory carried out in laboratory proved that the oil was attractive to the spiders. Associated soil fauna belongs Coleoptera, Orthoptera and Hymenoptera were slightly affected, while dipteran and lepidopteran larvae were considerably more affected by vertemic higher than the mineral oil.
