Subject(s): Online resources: In: Egyptian Poultry Science Journal 2011.v.31(III)Summary: A total of 150 samples from adult pigeon, died suddenly were collected from different pigeon's farms at different localities in Egypt. All cases were subjected 10 post¬mortem and bacteriological examinations. Most of the examined cases showed mixed bacterial infection. Salmonella typhimurium, E.coli, Enterobacter ,spp and Pasteurella mullocida were isolaled from the examined cases in ratios of 50%, 24%, 16% and 10% respectively. E.coli isolates were serotype as 02 (50%). O78{ (20,8%) and O126 (16.6%) while 12.5% of The isolated E.coil were untypable according to the available antisera. Pathogenicity of the highly virulent isolated microorganisms were studied in one year old pigeons. Symptoms, mortalilies and pmstmortem lesions were recorded and discussed in details. Studying the in-vitro sensitivity of the isolated bacterial strains revealed variation in drug sensitivity. Flouoroquinolone antibiotics' (ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin and danofloxacin) were found to be effective against most of tested bacterial strains followed by gentamycin, colistin sulphate and sulphamethoxazole.
