Subject(s): Online resources: In: Zagazig Journal of Agricultural Research 2014.v.41(2)Summary: A 6x6 half diallel cross fashion in F1 generation was employed to study heterotic effects for days to heading, days to maturity, stay green duration, flag leaf area, flag leaf chlorophyll content, yield attributes and nitrogen use efficiency, beside grain protein content under 40.5 ppm available nitrogen (L). 75.5 kg N/fad., (L) and 110.5 kg N/fad., (L). The parental used in this study were Line1(P), Line 2(P), Line 3(P₃), Sakha 93(P₄), Giza 168 (P₅) and Gemmeiza 10(P₆). Significant heterobeltiosis in the desired negative direction was observed for days to heading in both wheat crosses p₂x p5 and p₄x p₆ at L₁ and L₃ levels and p₄x p6 at L₃ level only. Wherease positive and significant heterobeltiosis were observed for days to maturity and stay green in the cross p₂x p₃ at L₂ level; flag leaf area in the crosses P₁X P₃ and p₂x P₃ at L₁ level and p₃x P₆ at L2level as well as in the P₁X P₄ and P₁X P6 at L₂ and L₃ levels for flag leaf chlorophyll content. Significant heterobeltiosis in the desired positive direction were registered for spike length in the three crosses p₁x p₃. p₁x P₅ and p₃x P₆ at different nitrogen levels; number of fertile spikelets / spike in p₃x p6 and p₅x p6 at L₁ level and p₁x p₃ at L₃ level only.
