Tbe effect of diethyl amiDoetby) (DEAE) dextran on the infectivity titre of sbeep pox virus (SPV) was studied·with different conantrations (50,25,· 75, 100 mg/ml) of DEAE-dextran on Vero cell culture. It was found that 1S and 50pglm) were DOt toxic. The same eoncentrations were used with sheep poI virusiDoculum sllowing thattbe best virus titre (IOu TCIDsoIml) reached with the use of 25mg/ml DEAE-dextran after 10 passages. The enbanced viral Ouid was tested in·Yivo, by vaccination of susuptible lambs and challenge of them with the: virulent sheep pox virus. These lambs sbowed complete protection against the disease. The SP neutralizing antibody indices (Nt) were estimated in the collected serum samples post vaccination and challenge; confirmed that 2Spg or DEAE-dextran/mt virus-inoculum induced an increase in neutralizing antibodies in comparison with those induced by,currently used sheep Pox vaccine.
