Subject(s): Online resources: In: Agricultural Research Journal, Suez Canal University 2008 v.8(2)Summary: This work was conducted in order to study pollen chemical compOSitIOn under the prevailing local environmental conditions at El-Arish Provence region. Total nitrogen was determined in samples of one gram of the dried pollen using Kjeldahl method. The difference in protein content of fresh citrus pollen was higher (34.2%) than that of maize pollen (30.9%). Therefore, the nutritive value of maize pollen judging from the percentage of protein was lower compared with that of citrus. No appreciable within variety differences can statistically be detected in protein contents between pollen collected from traps or that from cells.
