Subject(s): Online resources: In: Journal of the Advances in Agricultural Researches 2007.v.12(1)Summary: Protoplast fusion tecbnique was applied between Agrobocterlum tumefaclens aod Bacillus thuringlensis MD55 for obtaining fusant bacteria. The characters ofthis fusant were studied compariog witb parental strains via performing the Ligbt microscope examination and six microbiological tests. Assessment of larvicidal effeet 00 cotton leaf worm (Spotlopte,a littoralis) was carried out through bioassay for tbem. 00 tbe otber hand, parental and fusant bacteria were cbaracterized aod compared using the SDSPAGE tecbnique, and tbe plasmidic patterns. The protein fingerprinting of the fusants bacteria exhibited recombination of botb parent's profiles. However, A. tumefaciens have produced higber amount of Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) tban tbat in the fusant while the B. thurlnglensis MD55 was negleeted. High genetic similarity was detected between B. thu, inglensis MD55 and the fusants, more than between Agrobocterlum tumefaclens and the fusant bacteria. Also, peroxidase isozymes activity was detected iu all of calli, whicb obtained via caulogenesis technique on adult sugar beet leaves of uninfected (control) after infection with bacteria.
