Two cycles of pedigree selection for seed cotton yield/plant, boll weight and number of bolls/plant were completed at late planting date in two F₂-populations of Egyptian cotton. Population I stemmed from the cross Giza-91 x (Giza-80 x Pima S6) and population II from Giza-80 x Dandara. One experiment for each population of 200 families (F₃) was grown in RCBD of two replications in 2006 season. The second selection cycle was evaluated in 2008 season. Selection for seed cotton yield/plant resulted in two superior families from population I; No.144 and 147, which showed highly significant observed gain in seed cotton yield/plant (37.18 and 42.21%), lint yield/plant (55.38 and 65.34%), lint percentage (13.74 and 16.66%) and earliness index (14.12 and 9.54%) respectively.
