The aim of this study compare effect of irrigation levels and nitrogen<br/>rates on soil moisture content, total fruit yield and water use efficiency of<br/>cantaloupe under drip irrigation system. A field experiment was carried<br/>out under open field conditions on a clayey soil at Shalaqan Experimental<br/>Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams, Univ. Qalyubia Governorate,<br/>Egypt, in the summer season of 2014. The experiment was consisted of<br/>three irrigation water levels (100%, 80% and 60% of ETC) and two<br/>fertilization rates (IOO%N and 50%N of the recommended rate). In this<br/>respect, a split design with three replicates was implemented The results<br/>showed that the moisture content increased near the emitter source and<br/>then decreased horizontally and vertically in all cases this may be due to<br/>the increase the irrigation periods and converge the distance between the<br/>emitters, The highest total yield was obtained by (100% Etc and 100% N)<br/>treatment, while, the lowest total yield was recorded with (60% Etc, and<br/>50%N) treatment. But, (80% Etc and 100%N) and (80% Etc and 50%N)<br/>treatments Increased significantly total yield On the other hand, the<br/>highest IWUE value was 10.21 kg/m3 for (60% Etc and 100%N)<br/>treatment, while, the lowest IWUE value was 7.96 kg/ m3 for (100% Etc<br/>and 50% N) treatment. |
