Allen belongs to family Chenopodiaceae, was collected from the selected habitat (Alexandria - Mersa Mattruh road) at 30 km during the vegetative growth seasons of 2003-2004. The chromatographic investigation of the phenolic acids content of S. spongiosa stems and leaves revealed that the leaves contain phenolic acids, ferulic, chlorogenic, caffeic and gallic acids. While the plant stems contain the phenolic acids 2, 3-dihydroxy benzoic acid (O-protocatechuic acid), ferulic, chlorogenic and p- hydroxy benzoic acid.
